The Perfect Oatmeal: Apple Raisin Walnut Cinnamon Maple

I'm obviously posting this a little late.  Today is Wednesday, not Sunday; however, I still want to get this on here.  So here I go...

It's a beautiful Sunday morning.  A "10" on the scale of 1-10 in the world of Perfect Weather days, and this is a very welcomed thing.  This year, as with every year, certain flowers are really thriving, moreso than others.  I am no botanist, so I assume this is due to weather patterns leading up to the bloom.  On the other hand, there is also the side of me that believes there are spiritual reasons behind this as well.  The science and spiritual sides of life go hand in hand and make each other possible.  One cannot work without the other.

I lost my Dad this year, and of course there are so many things that remind me of him, everywhere I look, every day.  He had the most unbelievable green thumb, in addition to many other extraordinary talents and gifts.  Plants loved him, and he loved plants.  Today, it is the spiritual side that I'm tuned into.

Classic Cornbread...Yum!

Oooh Cornbread!  Straight from the oven hot with butter.  Warmed in a bowl of milk and a drizzle of honey.  Mexican style.  Corn within and/or cheese on top.  Or maybe a sweeter version with blueberries, as a muffin.  And so on and so forth.  The varieties are endless, but unnecessary really. Though the thought of Blueberry Cornbread muffins sounds irresistible, for me, this basic cornbread recipe works perfectly, all by itself.

Lovely French Dessert Recipe: My first "Piece Monte" (Mounted Piece) aka Croquembouche (Crunch in the Mouth)

Hello.  I'm back.  Please forgive me for just now posting an old May recipe/writeup.  I've had camera malfunctions, office relocations, and many other "issues" that have drained all creative flows right up.  However, today is the first day that I have been able to apply photographs to this.  I'll try very hard to make it up to you.  I really have missed y'all! So here goes the beginning of what I like to call "damage control".

Get ready!  It's a lengthy one.  Maybe a weekend project?

"What's For Dinner Wednesday?" Grilled Cheese with Fresh Spinach and Dijon Mustard.

Holy Cow this is truly a lickety split recipe.  It'll be done in a jiffy!  Really, I panicked yesterday as I was getting ready for work when I thought, for a second, that it was Wednesday and I had forgotten to post my "What's For Dinner Wednesday?" recipe.  That always happens when there is a holiday during the week.  I am off track and just can't seem to get the day right all week.  But then I remembered that it was actually Tuesday, June 1, my stepdaughter's 21st birthday.

Dessert Recipe for the last day in May! Dulce De Leche Brownies by David Lebovitz

Happy Memorial Day!  Today I give thanks to all who served and are currently serving this country so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we are so priveledged to have.  What a great country to be a citizen of!  So many of us take for granted all that we enjoy on a daily basis just because we live in this country.  I am not saying that our country is without flaws by any means, no one is perfect, however, all it takes is awareness and education to realize that many around the world are not granted even the most fundamental human rights, all because of the ruling form of government in their country and the oppression imposed upon them all in the name of power.  We are very fortunate.
